A Morning to Remember

It was a quietly moving morning at Wembley Primary School, where students, staff, and families gathered to mark ANZAC Day with a service full of heart. Member for Churchlands Basil Zempilas MLA attended and laid a wreath on behalf of the community, paying tribute to the men and women whose sacrifice continues to shape our nation.

The school choir performed beautifully and Churchlands Senior High School student Torah played the traditional Last Post on the bugle. Students then stepped forward to read poems they had written about Gallipoli; thoughtful words about courage, loss, and gratitude.

Basil said it was a privilege to be part of such a meaningful school commemoration. "This is exactly what ANZAC Day is about — communities coming together, and young people understanding why we remember. The students were extraordinary."
