New oven delivered to Lake Monger Primary School

Basil was a guest at Lake Monger Primary School this week to celebrate the arrival of the school’s brand-new canteen oven, made possible through a generous electorate donation and the tireless efforts of the P&C Association.
The school’s ageing oven had long struggled to keep up with demand, with volunteers juggling trays and timing to prepare lunches for hungry students. Recognising the need, Basil provided a significant funding boost to help secure a commercial-grade replacement.
“This is such a practical way to make a difference,” Basil said. “The canteen is at the heart of every school community — it’s where parents volunteer, where students grab a healthy lunch, and where so much connection happens. I’m proud to help ensure Lake Monger Primary has the right equipment to keep that going.”
The new oven will make a big difference to the canteen team, who serve hundreds of meals each week and run a valued breakfast club every Wednesday morning.
Congratulations to all the volunteers who work so hard to provide healthy, affordable food options for students, and to the P&C team who combined funding and fundraising efforts to make this project a reality.
