Coaches of the Year recognised at Wembley Downs Junior Football Club

Basil was delighted to sponsor the Coaches of the Year Awards for the Wembley Downs Junior Football Club, recognising their outstanding contribution to the club in 2026. Congratulations to Kane Kuenen and Max Coyne.

Kane Kuenen was honoured as Year 7/8 Girls Coach, while Max Coyne was named Year 9 Boys Coach, with awards voted on by the club in recognition of the dedication both have shown to their players and the broader Wembley Downs community throughout the season.

Mr Zempilas, Member for Churchlands, said the awards reflected the enormous amount of work that goes on behind the scenes at community sporting clubs.

"Congratulations to Kane and Max on this well-deserved recognition," Basil said.

"So much of what our junior sport coaches do goes unseen. From the planning, the liaising, the mentoring, and the sheer commitment it takes to lead a team of young players week in, week out.

"Wembley Downs JFC is fortunate to have volunteers of this calibre giving their time so generously to the club and to our young Cats.

"I'm proud to continue supporting Wembley Downs JFC and its volunteer community, and it was a pleasure to sponsor this year's Coaches of the Year awards."
