Protecting Herdsman Lake's swans — Have your say

Herdsman Lake is one of the Churchlands Electorate's most treasured natural spaces — home to black swans, waterbirds, and wildlife that our community genuinely loves. Tragically, a number of swans have recently been killed after mishaps with fishing hooks, a heartbreaking reminder that our sensitive wetlands can be significantly impacted by our actions.

As part of the City of Stirling's proposed Local Government Property Amendment Local Law 2026, the City is seeking to expand their protection of fauna at local lakes, along with the fines for breaking these laws.

This is a positive step, and the community has until Thursday 14 May 2026 to have their say via this link.
